NATO gave Ukraine a bunch of new Migs fighers from Poland, Turkish drones, German missile launchers. He was expecting to come up against a shitty military like his own, instead he's coming up against 2022 NATO hardware and losing because of it.
The nukes are to try to threaten NATO to stop feeding top quality hardware to Ukraine. It's not going to stop them.
