Whatever happened to VR?

Whatever happened to VR?

Is Cuckerberg still pushing for it?

This was supposed to be the future.

The GPU shortage killed the industry. So you are left with the piece of shit standalone products that are like strapping a phone to your eyes.

Unironically set to explode. The zucc's latest headset sold like hotcakes during the last holiday season. Apple is rumored to be revealing their own headset sometime this year or next year, assuming the world doesn't end.

To add: zucc is also working on a higher-end headset for the enthusiast market (project cambria). Valve is also working on a successor to their current headset (project deckard).

it's a gimmicky tech product. most people who buy it use it a couple of times then get bored with it and it gathers dust

It's dead. Just like fusion power always 20 years away.

What are you even supposed to use it for? Video games? Tv? I don’t get it

Racing games are pretty sick in VR

>Whatever happened to VR?
It's literally exploding since last Christmas because of the Quest 2.
>The GPU shortage killed the industry. So you are left with the piece of shit standalone products that are like strapping a phone to your eyes.
>t.retard that hasn't used a Quest 2 and doesn't realize you don't need a TI series card to play it on PC with it.

>What are you even supposed to use it for?
Video games, watching TV, chinese jerk off 2d porn, etc.

this is what i want except the vr and the light and the bed and the house.

good.. er.. bad
The more "people" sitting in a Basedpod with a screen strapped to their face the better.
GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY FORESTS YOU CANCERUS FAGGOTS.

Yeah this is true.
The Quest 2 can't even run all the really good shit, like ultra-modded Skyrim VR, the high-end racing games, indie stuff, etc.
Even with just regular PC gaming it gimps a pretty large amount of potential players. when you have to drop 5k for a top-of-the-line GPU.
But whenever the crypto bubble pops, here shortly with the rest of the market more than likely, they'll be such an insane surplus of GPUs after years of mass production that they'll probably be going for under MSRP, if not well below.
That would be the best time to drop a really fucking good, functional VR headset, which Valve might do with their rudimentary BCI they have in the works.

Socializing with online friends, porn, racing games, and horror games.
Anything that 3D makes better.

It's actually growing quite rapidly in comparison to before.
Thought it still needs a flagship product or game to truly make normies to crazy for it.
There is no halo to sell the xbox if you get my meaning.

>he wants a shirt
ok queer

Meta/FB are currently working on a "premium"/next -gen all-in-one headset, basically an Oculus but with major graphics upgrade among other things. I view it as VR 1.0 and everything before like Oculus 1 and 2 as a beta test.

It's doing fine in its niche but it's not going to be normie ready for a while.

>Cuckerberg
He caught a nigger banging his gook wife in the metaverse and now wants to kill it.

You're in it now.

Actually was just playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR. It's alright. Shouldn't this thread be on Any Forums though? I came here for politics and racism, not video games.

This game fucking sucks
how do I switch it to Nekopara

Oh I bought a Rift for 500$.

Played Half Life Alyx, Moss, and Lone Echo.

All great games.

Surprised you PC Nerds aren't all over Half Life Alyx. That game was BALLS, from beginning to end. Played it stoned too, so mad good times.

sorry mark but you'll never not be gay

Yes. It’s reddit.

It's pretty neat, but also uncomfortable. It won't really take off unless they can miniaturized it down the point of being like a pair on glasses and gloves.

sorry gaymee but the crypto bubble ain’t gonna pop

I used to think the same, but now I love VR and I genuinely believe it has the potential to be the next big piece of tech like smartphones. All it needs is some smoothing around the edges for the tech, a lower barrier to entry, and more software support.

Alyx is legit one of the best games I’ve ever played. My VR set is broken rn, or I’d be all over it
