Russia is right next to Ukraine. No Amphibious assaults or long flights from Germany to Iraq for them. They have full knowledge of the tech since its old Russian tech. They share language and should have more infiltrators.

Because their goal is the installation of a new government, not meme gib clay annexation. They might annex the parts directly adjacent to Crimea to secure Crimea's water supply since that's been a pain ever since 2014, but I'd be very surprised if they took more than that.
