What is with the meme about not achieving air superiority? Yes, the occasional Mig 29/bayraktar/ Mi 24 of Ukr Airforce manages to accomplish something without getting shot down, but for the most part it's russia doing the strafing runs and the bombing. MANPADS are only effective (and not always) against choppers. Saying that Russia didn't achieve air superiority over ukraine is kind of like saying that the Germans didn't achieve air superiority over stalingrad. USSR VVS would get BTFO almost constantly, but they did manage to sneak in a couple of air kills and bombing runs here and there.
