Also worth noting that these days less than 10% of Russian oil is sold in dollars - quite an amaazing achievement for Putin - about a decade ago it was 100%.

Russia also has vastly lower debt than any western nation. And as you mentioned huge gold reserves. As long as China stands by and buys some extra oil and food I don't expect that sanctions will do much to Russia.

Some of the rest is virtue signalling. I am sure that 12 months from now BP will still be involved and "we just can't find a buyer for those shares" - that happen to account for 20% of BP's huge profits. The only one that will cause any issues for a while is the ruble though fairly soon that will stop - simply because the US and germany won't allow sactions to hit oil and gas sales and countless nations will starve without Russian food. This eans Russian trade will continue and thus rubles be traded for whatever currency those goods are bought in

Sancitons might work on some smaller coutrneis that need to import basic items (eg USA used them to force Japan into World War II) but won't make much difference to Russia. I think Putin probably has already put some aside to help the few oligarchs who lose a mansion in London.
