Russia's military

Why is this invasion appearing to be such a failure compared to past Russian military exploits? The Russian army used to wipe out their opponents even when heavily outnumbered and have a long track record of being led by some of the worlds best officers. Is it because none of the soldiers believe in this war? Could it be because the invasion was not meant to happen until the US forced their hand? Is it because the officers are oligarchs? Are they actually performing well but we don't see it due to a lack of coverage?
Russians on Any Forums explain yourselves

You’ll probably just hear shit from them that you’d normally hear from an American trying to explain Vietnam

It just doesn't make sense, Russia used to fight armies with even better equipment and better economies than it and still win, I assume so far they have only sent in old equipment and not the new stuff/trained soldiers.

>invasion appearing to be such a failure compared to past Russian military exploits
Care to elaborate?

You haven't seen the full strength of Russia's military. Not even a quarter of it.

It's pretty simple really. If Russian went full WWII, the Ukrainian deaths would be in the tens of thousands by now. Dozens of cities would've been levelled. If Russia did this, we would be in World War III by now, it's clear that Russia does not want to do this.

It's a different world now with the West, Russia just wants to capture Ukraine and capture Kiev and force their government out with the the least casualties on both sides. If you look on the live maps, they're surrounding towns, not destroying them.

Kiev is going to be hard to crack, because the moment you start levelling buildings, you're going to get NATO and the US involved and it's going to be an absolute shit fight. The best the Russians can do right now is surround Kiev, and force the Ukrainian government to surrender.

>Is it because none of the soldiers believe in this war?
Could be this as well.

Russia is and always has been a zerg rush nation. All their equipment, all their training. is designed around the principle of overwhelming numbers. And Putin has decided to send only small numbers into invade. The initial strike was only what, 30% of the invasion force?

>such a failure compared to past Russian military exploits?
You mean like the famous naval action against Japan where the entire Russian fleet got rekt before even entering the theatre. Russians are OK defensive fighters. On offense they suck ass

Because the only perspective you have of the war is from the side that wants Russia to lose. Cmon buddy think harder.

>you're going to get NATO and the US involved and it's going to be an absolute shit fight
Sleepy Joe isn't going to do shit lol

Russia has a fuckton of old Soviet surplus to work its way through before its worth trotting out the new gear or the better trained non-conscripts. For the cost of one or two modern tanks they can push out an entire company of 80's/90's soviet tanks retrofitted to more modern ammunition, with anti rocket cages welded on top, all which was otherwise just sitting in some field somewhere rotting away.

>past Russian military exploits?

Like what? Complete failure in WW1? Humiliating defeat in 1921? Gangrape in Winter War? Buttfuck in Afghanistan?

WW2 was a massive coalition it barely counts.

There are countless wars where the Russians performed exceptionally well, the pic rel I posted is Suvorov, a military leader probably among the top 10 or 5 best in history, he defeated Turkish and French armies many times his size and achieved feats that have since never been done. in 1812 the Russian army did a lot better than most normies think against Napoleon and going on 1813 onward most armies were modelled after the Russian one for some time, the leaders of the coalition. They defeated the Turks many times in the 1800s with exceptional maneuvers and in 1944 they performed the biggest operation after Barbarossa with the biggest gains in history.
This makes sense, I think it's sad that Russians are allowing civilians to walk freely and then get molotov'd, they are trying to be humane it seems.
NA education system has failed you, niglet.

You are fucking retarded. We are seeing latest variants of T-80 from 2017 getting fucked. Latest BWPs. Latest T-72B3. Most of the dead troops in full Ratnik gear.

What else do you want to see? T-90M they have a grand total of 85 in the country? One of the two flying Su-57?

Yes 2 more weeks and they’ll show their true strength

There is a difference between capturing and leveling. Russia is trying to capture Ukraine, they're using kid gloves - I haven't even seen reports of any white phosphorus being used. Russia will level us if we fight them.
Yes, I used "WE." If there is a war, we will not be fighting Vietcong Charlies in Vietnam. I expect the DC regime to round up both Canadian and Mexican citizens including Central American countries to use as cannon fodder. Like driving around in buses capturing you, going door to door. This isn't new, the DC regime will do anything to preserve itself and "liberal democratic" principles will be the first thing to go out of the window. The US will draft you.

>past Russian military exploits
I guess the only recent comparison was Georgia which is much smaller and even back then there were a lot of questions about poor Russian performance (it's probably even on the wikipedia page) and Georgia did not have anywhere near as much western weapons or drones etc. Their hardware is obsolete (see Armenia-Azerbaijan) and apparently their tactics are too

If Russia loses against Ukraine they're essentially fucked
I'd bet they're talking about nukes to ward off the inevitable Western counter invasion to "de-radicalise Russians" but how long will that last?

Nobody wants to invade Russia we are just waiting for Putin to get killed by his own people after they can't play War Thunder and watch porn for a week.

Says the anime poster. Get back into your virgin cage boy

Because the dumbasses are trying to get everyone they meet to surrender instead of shooting the shit up on sight. Kadyrov just complained about this shit to Putin publicly, asking to let him do his chechen thing already.

>"Our special operation on Ukraine continues for the fourth day now. But I do not understand why we continue to play nice with banderovites? From the first day it was obvious, that nationalists only understand force."
>"Kharkov and Kiev cannot be cleansed from banderovites with "Tigrs", "Urals" and UAZs alone. Over there they are armed to the teeth with new weaponry, ammunition, latest generation heavy armor, and we are still pussyfooting with them, hoping for ukrainian authorities and armed forces command to see reason."
> ...
>"We do not need losses. Every one of our people's lives are most important. And since they have refused negotiations twice, we can only change tactics. It will be more persuasive for them."
>"I ask the leadership of the country, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Russia Vladimir Putin, to give all special forces an appropriate order, so they could be finished with nazis and, ofcource, terrorists, that have been killing our women, elderly and children in the Chechen Republic."

They were always shit. They never won when they were "heavily outnumbered", you dumb nigger. At least not against Germany. We kicked their ass so hard that they haven't recovered from it to the present day, killing 25 million bolshevik Untermensch in the process despite being a little shithole populated by autistic retards with zero ressources, while these useless slavniggers control half of Eurasia. Get fucked.

because the mission is to not whipe out but capture the enemy and enemy cities.
They want to overthrow the regime not annex teh place

Russia has always been clumsy and shitty at the start of wars. Their history is riddled with major defeats to start wars. They often lose every battle except the last one.

How long does an invasion take? Germany attacked on 3 sides against Poland with complete arms superiority and took 39 days, and they were none too gentle.

I'm surprised that Russia doesn't use drones, rockets, bombers exc.

We don't have enough information to really get an accurate picture. The Russians aren't really giving out anything, all we have is MSM reporting "information" from Any Forums memes like Ghost of Kiev and Snake Island last stand garbage. That and a massive amount of shilling and misinformation on social media.

>Napoleonic wars
Scorched earth tactics complemented by a massive landmass.
>WW2
More soviet soldiers than German bullets. Moreover, the Russian army performed poorly in cities, for example the siege of Budapest. Many people don't know but Soviet Union was the one asking for the firebombing of places like Dresden so the Eastern front won't drag on until forever.
>1840s
Russia did gain a reputation here as the gendarme of Europe so yeah.

This is also true, but international pressure will force him to do something imo

Dude the Russians are wearing Ratnik equipment and you know that Russia would rather have volunteers die because everyone gets all butthurt when someone dies in their 2 year mandatory service. The Pole is correct in what he's saying.

You missed the russo-japanese war

I heard they were spotted moving an army 5km long to Kiev. That's about 58 thousand 200 and fourty Cheeze-It boxes stacked long ways in american measurement.

>Russia used to fight armies with even better equipment and better economies than it and still win
>Win with American tax payer dollars.
Russian strong is a meme, stop being 12.

Keep coping. Those last few days are wonderful.

It's not. Russian is making timely gains. All claims that Ukraine is winning are by globohomo shills, with no exceptions.

>purposely kill your veteran tank crews to get rid aging equipment.

lol ok buddy
