A nuclear "landmine" isn't something a man steps on and sets it off. Its more like a demolition charge that is placed on a mountian side, valley, chokepoint, or other strategic position.

The bomb goes off and denies access to that area due to radioactivity or area damage.

Atomic demolition munitions (ADMs), colloquially known as nuclear land mines, are small nuclear explosive devices. ADMs were developed for both military and civilian purposes.
