Yes. people are freaking out that Russia hasn't steamrolled Ukraine like the US did to Saddam's army (which took a month). It has been a few days. The Russian military is fighting against modern military equipment and people with triple digit IQs. Whether you support, oppose, or are indifferent to Russia's invasion, it appears to be going well and quickly. The propaganda about the Ghost of Kiev, the Iron Man of Ukraine, and more are all lies (most likely, anyways). Western media is breathlessly reporting every downed plane, every destroyed armored vehicle, etc. War is all hell, and people die in actual wars. Drone-striking civilians or chasing peasants with no real training carrying 40 year old guns across the plains of Iraq is not war. It's shooting fish in a barrel.

Within days most major cities will be taken. They are apparently doing as little collateral damage as possible and not using their full strength. They want to take over the country, not destroy it. You don't break everything if your goal is to control it. Ukraine will fall, despite the token sanctions and the weapons shipments. Love it or hate it, Russia will either take over the country outright, install a puppet regime like the West did, or break the country up and establish multiple puppet regimes (or control parts of the country). This is happening. Anything short of direct military intervention will fail to stop this outcome. I commend the Ukrainians for fighting for their homeland. I also understand Russia's actions are a direct result of 30 years of NATO encircling them and increasingly isolating them. It's sad it came to this, but the last 75 years have been a period of unprecedented peace. And there have only been a few periods in human history like this. They never last. We are regressing to the mean. I suggest, whichever side you are rooting for, you get used to this. This is the old normal, and the world will be like this for the rest of your life.
