Honestly not trading with the west and opening up a Russia, Eastern Europe, China and Asian economy would cripple the west more. Big markets, cheap labour, and resources

In a sense, the west is expanding eastwards and the goal is to take over Russia. They've achieved that in Ukraine and Russia has decided to fight back before it falls too. So this is the fight back. Obviously destroying the Russian economy is one way to achieve this goal.

at least you're honest. this the true face of my country. they can't tolerate any large independent state. everything must be destroyed outside the liberal global order. only reason why anything happens.

They didn't have much choice, it's not really bait if you are being forced into a corner with no way out.

The West is crumbling economically and using Ukraine as a distraction for rapidly rising inflation and increasing authoritarianism of the governments. Nobody is talking about Dictator Trudeau or the honking anymore or how he fielded zogbots to start hitting them using emergency powers that ain't gonna be deactivated.
