The end of an era

This war will be remembered as the end of the main battle tank. Same as the Gulf War signaled the end of the battleship

Propaganda for years has been telling me that ground combat is ancient by now anyway

There is no "end to" anything in a proper arsenal.

I wouldnt say it's the end, they just need to be top of the line. There's no point being scared of Russia's 6 gorillion tanks when 90% of them are soviet era paper mache tanks that evaporate instantly

Back in the 80's, a simulation showed that a full confrontation in that area would be death for tanks. Avg life expectancy in battle,,,,2 minutes.

Yeah especially in urban environments, inner city Kyiv is going to be a nightmare for them

Ground combat as in using MBTs as the main mean to attack is ancient since they are easy to spot target.

Ground combat isn't ancient news.
It's just more way more effective at killing Tanks now.
If it gets efficient to the point it can take out aircraft at the same rate with AA missle systems, then Air superiority will become as obsolete as armor superiority is now.

recoilless launcers would be more practical than missiles in every way

It's the age of drone warfare. Can't see or hear them. Everyone should have paid more attention to Azerbaijan vs Armenia or when Pakistan wiped out the last defensive positions of defenders holding out the Taliban.

Good luck changing the government of a country by flying over it

Drones can destroy things easily, but with no physical presence you won't hold the rubles. T

WWII signaled the end of the battleship user.
Most of the major powers built these huge battleships, and what happened to the largest of them? Sunk by planes. That battleship taking part in the Gulf War was an oddity and even then it was only for bombarding positions inland, not engaging other vessels.

Would they push in or just encircle and siege

nigger, the russians are sending FUCKING T-72s, there is not even a t-80 or t-90 spotted on the battlefield, of course they are getting rekt

I forget the name of the book, but there a military sci Fi series set in the year 2200 or so, ironically in the Ukraine/central Asia area, where handheld weapons are so powerful that there's no armor/aircraft/spacecraft at all as they just get vaporized once they pass the horizon. Instead it's light infantry running around in trenches, tunnels and bunkers with a shit ton of drones for support.

Also, there was a nuclear war at some point before the series started

I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be in a low maneuverability/vertical environment.

but why? what is puting saving the good ones for?
he REALLY needs to get this done if he wants to stay in power

no, that was the Hezbollah Israel conflict
remember that?
it's been somewhat hidden
holy fuck, total rout

until they have drones capable of manning check points and road blocks, drones will only be a limited role

Putin believed sending the VDVs to Kiev would topple the government in 2 days and then the reservists would occupy the country.
Instead they failed and now the spearhead of the offensive is basically soviet-tier

WW2 marked the end of the battleship, they were already becoming obsolete in the inter-war period.
But I agree that tanks are becoming more and more irrelevant too
