Americans will pay with wallets, citizens of Kiev will pay with blood. They need to surrender now. My thoughts on this are clear as day. Streams indicate only gunfire in Kiev, this doesn’t prove anything that Russia is invading. No surgical strikes on the power grid, government buildings or troop formations. On the other hand Ukraine is possibly not faring as well as the Twitter/Reddit tards are saying. Will we ever know the truth behind the extent of this invasion as to how many casualties there are on both sides? Or will this turn into a siege of Kiev that will drag on or an immediate cease-fire or stalemate? It's unlikely to turn into a siege of Kiev - your perspective of the time involved has been warped by the speed of communication; it has been just less than 3 days since it was even declared and Ukraine is already handing out thousands of rifles to untrained civvies, instituting a mandatory draft for 18-60's, all their airports are fucked, the Russians are fighting through Kiev, etc etc. If anything, this war is incredibly fast - it just seems slow because there is space in the middle. Of all things said, the intermingling of both forces AND civilians, and the relatively restrained and pinpoint manner in which strikes have been made (see: helicopter strikes on convoy targets while UKR civvies driving by record it, and driving around UKR tanks just to see Russian ones firing on them just up the road, and the lack of general strikes to the power grid/govt/general infrastructure), speaks more to it really being a defined operation with specific goals & strategic targets.
Will China end up being another paper horse? Is Russia no longer at parity with a modern western military and its ability to go in, get done and get out? Yeah, definitely. While this definitely isn't a full mobilisation for Russia, they don't have the money or manpower to match up to the US like the USSR.
