Depends what you mean by safe. I think that the Russians probably will try to avoid civilian casualties because that would make them look bad. But of course there will still be civilian casualties one way or another. And if the Russians face stubborn resistance in Kiev, it's possible that they will start bombarding even civilian areas. As for will Kiev hold out? Honestly, I do not think so. The Russian advantages in numbers and other things are just too great. I think it is probably just a matter of time before Kiev falls. If I were you, I would probably be trying to get myself and my loved ones to the West right now.

The Russians have advanced to the northwest of Kiev. Current situation across Ukraine allegedly looks kind of like pic related according to /k/, but I think that the Russians are actually slightly closer to Kiev than in the pic. Also in the South, the Russians have moved a bit further East from Melitopol than in the pic.
A Russian ground attack on Kiev might start at any moment. I think they probably have not yet brought up enough forces towards Kiev to try it, but I am sure that they are working on it. Stay safe and good luck, man.
