This has been repeatedly claimed, yet no one seems to be able to point to any instance of Gazprom breaking contracts or refusing to take orders. Also, Nord Stream 2 isn't to increase gas exports. Current pipelines are below capacity. It's to avoid Polish and Ukrainians collecting transit fees or threatening the gas.

The issue is is that the US has to provide it as liquified natural gas (LNG) which has its own host of logistical issues to contend with. First and foremost is the lack of many LNG refineries in Europe to handle the bulk needed to supply Europe's natural gas needs all at once.
