Does anyone that uses that term as an insult even know what a Fascist and Fascism is or is it just the big boogeyman insult that everyone needs to defer to? Yeah I've noticed that. It's stupid. I've asked people what defines a nazi/fascist and every answer is different. The unifying case is being wrong. Because of how liberally it's used as an insult, I have taken the time to research nazi/fascism, which has only made me realize how much people would support their ideas and don't realize how many of their beliefs they actually support and propagate.

At least in the US the factions are actually between people who treat the Civil War as our origin myth and people who treat the Revolutionary War as our origin myth.
