I know a healthy dude of about 50 y.o. who died about three months ago. he was a buddy from high school. And a friend's dad who died in early 2021 and was about 75 yrs old and otherwise totally healthy.

And on Monday, I sat in a guy's office getting a utility account switched over. Our local mask mandates are done, so he was talking about how glad he was not to have to wear one. I agreed.

Then I asked him about the photo on his desk of a smiling, regular guy holding a shotgun in one hand and a fine-looking Tom turkey in the other. He said that was his father-in-law. Who was totally healthy otherwise, but had died of COVID last year.

I have personal friends in four different states (x2 that professional acquaintances) and I'm the rare shitposter that's actually active in his community, which happens to be overwhelmingly older.
