He said that offering exoskeletons to wheelchair bound people is wrong because some people identify as being wheelchair bound and that is offensive to them
My ethics professor says that disabilities are social identities
What
Exactly
And you arent dunking on him in front of the class?
They agree with him. I fucking tried
There is absolutely zero point in dunking on any professor in any university course.
University is a business, and you should treat it as such.
>Figure out which way your professor leans
>Manipulate your ideology to fit into their frame
>Get the grades
>Get the fuck out
Why are you paying for an ethics class run by a retard? What kind of degree are you trying to get?
Also, of you are incapable of laying out an argument as to why your prof is retarded maybe you are also retarded?
You know it is difficult when I am still trying to stay on his good side so I get a fucking A bro. Also I am a Finance And accounting dual major
>If I just compromise my principles they will allow me to live in an upgraded doghouse.
If you are begging from approval from these people you are the problem. Go to a cheap college and grind out the reqs as cheap as possible while you develop your STEM relevant skills and build a portfolio.
If you chose a non stem degree you are an idiot and should drop out asap.
Why the fuck do you care about being on his good side? Are you going to suck his dick to get access to his network? Are you planning on being his graduate student? His opinion of you (and your grades in that class) literally do not matter unless you plan on either of the above and if you do plan on either you are a cucky little faggot.
Found the neet fucking loser
>I'm going to shoot myself in the foot because of my pride and ego
What "principles", anonbro? if you want to debate someone join a debate club. At the very least, finish your degree with top grades and get into your career and establish yourself. Build your wealth up and succeed at something. Play the game when it needs to be played and use strategy in the process, don't be emotionally impulsive.
Most people in university don't give a shit.
Offering or forcing? I could see forced being wrong, and sure some wheelers might have some pride in their own struggle, but if you are crippled and being offered a solution to your problem you're probably fucking crazy if you opt out. If it's valid as an identity, then I should be 100% allowed to have my legs removed so I can live off disability. Should someone be allowed to receive disability checks if they voluntarily stay crippled? If so, the state should start covering shit like lasek asap.
You know what we call STEM grads with a solid sense of empathy and marketability? World fucking famous. Most of you end up as lab grunts or google employees who make the world worse so you can choke to death on a fat cock. Just because you were too autistic to make it in a non-STEM major doesn't mean you have to suck everyone else into your lonely pit.
I'm a graduate computational physicist. I dunk on my profs regularly for their political views and none of them can do shit about it because I am comptetant, knowledgeable and articulate.
If you train yourself to appease retards by repeating what you know are lies you will lose your soul.
>Going into debt to listen to such bullshit
Do people really?
Learn math, nigger.
Potential issues with your prof's line of thought
>Scarcity - even if a wheelchair-based identity can be supported in a wealthy, developed, almost-post-scarcity nation, what would happen if there was a disaster? If a solar flare shorted out all electronics and we went back to medieval technology, these people would be a dead weight. A VOLUNTARY dead weight. They're being a net drain of their own volition, which is only valid as long as there are others to pick up the slack for them.
Insecure sense of self - if being cured would damage their sense of who they are, then their "self" is very weak and flimsy. They're placing permanent internal value on something that's external and (with treatment) temporary.
>Community and sense of belonging - it's true that, for example, the deaf community is very warm and inclusive for deaf folks. Those who have theur hearing restored would indeed be losing out on an awesome community. But the deeper problem is, why arent there warm communities like that for healthy people? Isn't the deeper problem the fact that we're a bunch of isolated, atomized, lonely individuals? If society didn't isolate us, the disabled wouldn't lose anything by getting cured
Principles like not regurgitating lies to appease the insane.
Why are you in college? I hope you at least have a free ride.
What are your thoughts on this issue, then? How would you dunk on the professor in this situation?
I identify as a shut in now give me your money wagies
Then tell him an exoskeleton would offer a superior identity which would easily be embraced by any cripple and that any argument he makes contrary to that is invalid. Bang pow boom A+ its that easy, retard.
forgot image
And this goes above any mans principle of success, being able to take care of loves ones, or leading a promising life?
You're programmed to react. Just like (((they))) want.
YOURE GOING TO WEAR THE EXOSUIT AND YOURE GOING TO LIKE IT. DEMOCRACY IS DEAD OKAY?
Get your grade and get out. Vandalize the classroom or something but youre not going to win anything by fighting faggots who control your graduation odds.
and if he tries being a little faggot tell him to stfu and that you identify as crippled so you're the arbiter of truth concerning cripples and retards.
Hahahaha you paid thousands of dollars to have an absolute retard lecture and evaluate you on retarded shit that's evil and wrong.
Just watch YT videos and learn for free
>He said that offering exoskeletons to wheelchair bound people
>offering
I hope you mischaracterized his argument, because it's beyond stupid of him to oppose OFFERING that technology to them. Individuals should always have that choice. And if they choose to purposefully gimp themselves, then they should live with the consequences of their actions and not get any public benefits or accomodations.
>some people identify as being wheelchair bound and that is offensive to them
An identity isn't automatically valid just because someone says it's their identity. Think of the adult men with baby fetishes that start to identify as small children so that their lovers can change their diapers.
Here's another thought. As a society, our individual goals and aspirations should be those of health, beauty and strength. Folks who openly scorn and turn turn back on those ideals are implicitly encouraging others to do so, and weakening our society as a whole. The Chinese don't accommodate this sort of delusional glorification of weakness, and that's part of why the future belongs to them and not us.
