That's true of course. But those times lead to these times. It was nice that back then you could dmake jokes about trannies without having your life ruined, but probably the simple fact that we were even TALKING about them paved the way for what we have today.

Same with equality of opportunity, it seemed fine at the time, and it was nice, but the problem is, once you have ONE female engineer, or ONE woman making a video game, crazy people start demanding that just because ONE female can do it, then all potentially can and that these sectors must become 50:50 male:female.

But the fact things were like that back then lead to it becoming socially acceptable (and even encouraged) for girls to be naked on the Internet all the time, and they get no backlash for it at all now.

So yeah, it Western society stayed permanently in a 2007 state for the rest of my life, we would probably be fine with it and wouldn't be here having discussions like this. But it might be impossible for that to happen, because that state lead to what we have today.
