I don't see any proof it's because people have died. It could be, but then you would see a major decline in our population figures.
There definitely is a lesser amount of workers but how overblown is it? People are tired of other people, they are sick, maybe they died, maybe they are on some lucrative gibs. Maybe someone is giving them money or maybe they have illegal side operations.
I find it hard to believe though that all of a sudden we just have this extreme shortage of workers just because, or just, for reasons.

By the numbers boomers all left the workforce since they were close to retirement anyways and this left a huge hole in the workforce. More younger people were able to move up and thus the hole in lower wage jobs is plugged.
Aid and a huge crypto bullrun didn't help either.
