We've gone two years without paying and lo and behold, the economy is chugging along. As a teacher, I spent a lot of time getting an education to help the youth of America. It's high time that people like me get loans wiped out.

The national debt is spiraling out of control, resulting in inflation due to the fact that interest rates cannot be raised nearly as aggressively as they should be because it would result in a default of the dollar. While federal spending on education is not the largest part of this problem, it does contribute.
All that said, you should be able to default on student loans just like any other. It would also convince banks to stop giving out student loans to obviously incapable would-be students, and giving out loans to people seeking degrees which are unlikely to be profitable.

The value of student debt is not in the current payment but in the promise of future payment.
Obama confiscated all of the private debt and nationalized it so he could back the debt of the Federal Reserve. Our credit rating is based on future projections of student loan payments. Every dollar borrowed and spent by the Federal Government is dependent on the student debt being on the books.
This is both the reason student debt can never be forgiven and MUST be forgiven. Student debt is the key to end the fed.

I've said it before the simple and clean way to fix the "crisis" is to annul interest and offer anyone who already paid off their debt a tax credit equal to the average value of interest payments someone would need for that degree.

I avoided loans by working 30 hours a week through college to pay for my civil engineering degree. I avoided having a car and took the bus to campus after i moved off campus. I had a friend who took out loans and went to an out of state school because it was next to the beach. Instead of getting a normal apartment they got another loan to pay for a luxury apartment next to campus. Spent 5 years for a 4 year degree in english literature.

The lines about 'warehousing' in the comments seem very smart. I don't think education is as pointless as they say (literacy sure is invaluable, basic mathematics and so on are too) but a big value likely comes from occupying teenage women and young men.
Something like that feels reasonable to me. Keep the loan debt but freeze interest rates (And if someone just tries to wait until they die then tie it to how much social security you get or how much tax returns you get IE none if you have student debt).
Some kind of absolution of the debt will happen. It's going to tie the economy down too much and have too many voters interested in it to not happen.

You said You are misunderstanding student loan forgiveness. It doesn't get wiped off the books and change how the Fed is backed. Student loan forgiveness, as currently promoted by the likes of Elizabeth Warren and the like means that TAXPAYERS pay off the debt on the books. It doesn't change how the Fed is structured in anyway whatsoever, it only increases the tax burden for the likes of me.
