Games are player-driven. The urge that the game satisfies has to exist. The urge to explore, to build, the achieve, to conquer. The player needs a reason to engage. They have to choose it. If the player can stay passive, then it's not a game anymore.
Any narrative that is uniquely suited to gaming as platform must revolve around freedom, dissent, and their limits. The uniqueness that games can offer, in terms of storytelling, is the ability for the consumer to interact with the author. Games are uniquely able to tell a story about the freedom of the consumer to make their own choices in defiance of system they're presented with (see Stanley Parable). Or they can be about how those choices are illusory (see Bioshock 1). But any game-only moral must be about freedom. Any other kind of tale could be told in another medium.
It's no coincidence that every good story about *playing* games comes down to what's possible and what narratives can emerge unexpectedly (see DougDoug's YT Channel). No one tells their friends about the time they say down and played through Uncharted to the end and watched all the cutscenes. No, they tell a story about the time the entire Halo server started spontaneously RPing.
None of this is conducive to any kind of dogmatic programming, and especially not authoritarian, anti-skeptic, leftist programming. So what is a propagandist to do? All they can do is put a lid on redpilling. Ban voice chats. Limit player options. Curate streamers. Push forward narrative experiences. Harness the urges to build and achieve and turn them into simple checklists to pacify gamers that might be otherwise inspired or uplifted.
That's all they can do to games: neutralize the threat. Sure, let's criticize that. And let's encourage learning transferable skills rather than gaming. But remember that gaming cannot be claimed by leftists the way music or movies can.
