Is giving 2 weeks notice always the right thing to do or is it ever justified to leave your place of work in an absolute lurch by just never showing up again one day? I mean for more corporate/management type jobs; no offense to burger flippers but you're replaceable.
2 week notice?
I like to give two weeks notice and then stop showing up the next day.
current job:
>5 12s
>do literally the work of 5 separate people
>implented all the SOPs, work instructions and flow maps
>have the most knowledge of all open jobs and customer/vendor relations
>do all of the quality metric reports both quarterly and annually
>am not compensated for all the actual work I do, am denied promotion/raise regardless
>would absolutely devastate the company if I just quit with no notice
Should I pull the plug on these niggers or give them 2 weeks to figure out how to stop the catastrophe?
Plenty of places will fire you the day you put a 2 week notice in, seen it many times.
just fucking leave if you have the next job lined up and you hate them. otherwise give two weeks and phone it in unless you love them
that's just brutal but I can see it being wholly deserved at times.
This is what has always irked me; that no company ever needs to give their employees 2 weeks notice that they're going to fire them yet fully expect them to give 2 weeks notice that they're going to quit. I get that there's warnings, write-ups and sitdowns but employers basically have all the leverage if they're a company that can easily replace you and that's definitely not fair.
I genuinely feel bad for everyone there besides the leadership. They will be like children who's parents suddenly died if I just randomly quit without notice. If anything I'd give two weeks for them, but it's the executives that I really want to piss off. Even 2 weeks would still do it and wouldn't be enough for them to acclimate, but it just doesn't burn enough to me.
Give 2 weeks then "get covid" so you stay doing nothing
kek that would be funny but they stopped paying faggots two week vacation for "getting covid" so I'd be out two weeks of pay at that point. And, the one good thing about the company is that they don't enforce vax or care about covid.
>gives two weeks notice
>on last day, say "just two more weeks!"
Nigger if you don't quit immediately you're a faggot
My boss was a bitch ass nigger so I just left while taking tip money kek
Jew more weeks
You a QE?
Don’t burn bridges. Do the two weeks. You may be forced to work with former coworkers later on, especially if it’s a niche industry.
It's never necessary to give 2 weeks notice
Ask them when you get hired.
>when I move on to better opportunities, how much time would you need before I go?
Depends on your employment contract and you plan to work in the same industry as your career again
>calls up for reference, he just bailed without notice breaching his contract. Um ok
That being said I get hired anyway
Would you get two weeks notice before you were fired? Just quit.
2 weeks notice is a sham and based on the idea that you should be happy to have a job and that you're not easily replaceable.
White collar only if it's fucking Maccas, Amazon or Walmart who cares
Never give more than the legally mandated advance notice. In right to work jurisdictions, that means giving no notice at all. "2 weeks notice" is a meme spread by employers, just like "it's unprofessional to discuss your salary".
Just quit by EOD, simple as that. You don't owe them shit and they'd fire you on the spot too if it was convenient for them.
>you plan to work in the same industry as your career again
This isn't 1999, nobody gives a fuck.
why not talk to your boss or something and lay out the situation like you just said, except don't threaten to quit and burn the company to the ground. See what he says. Also, maybe money is tight, and the company's finances are as good as you think and you don't have the full picture.
I've never given 2 weeks, ever. I just call in and say I have a new job. I've even returned to 2 businesses I have quit like this. It's Chad.
>talking about leaving as soon as you start
Holy autism
No, treat them as they have treated you. Good boss/company? Tell them as early as you can. Assholes? Just ghost them, or tell them off and don't go in next day.
I'm not going to hire a developer who breached contract in any of their references
You are also third world, you wouldn't get it
when they lay off they will give no notice. return the courtesy
Don't burn bridges you don't have to. You could end up hating your old job and wanting to go back. I've never been in that situation but know many that have.
Well, if you have a good career in a good industry, I would leave a 2 weeks or even 1 month. In my current position, I am looking for a new job, but I still enjoy the company I work for and would potentially work their again if the opportunity came up and I found myself out of work. If you work for a place where your surrounded by niggers or non-stem co-workers that make you want to rope, just walk the fuck out.
You really aren't that important or valuable to your company. You're just a dumb and frustrated monkey. Sit your boss down, say "hey I'm doing this and that and I don't think my compensation is enough." Lay out a plan to have 5 to 10 people do what you are doing so the burden can be shared. You will oversee the training and make sure they are doing it correctly. Then stop working and just make sure everyone else is. In other words, make yourself a manager and go on a vacation too.
