I'm not so sure. Russia defending the DPR and LPR is humiliating to the West. While there is a potential upside to American prevention of Russo-EU economic cooperation, I wouldn't be so quick to call this a win for the West.

Even the Chinese have not backed Russia officially because they still want to sell shit to Europe and they know Russia has no choice but to sell gas to them anyways.
