Will Russia try to take more than donetsk and luhansk? Seems like an awful lot of people to piss off for only small territories that don't even give them a connection to Crimea or control over water to Crimea. My guess is they try to take more and the fighting will get ugly.
You wont have air superiority over Russia or anywhere Russia is likely to be attacking or defending because they possess defenses against it and american aircraft which can circunvent those defenses are unbelievably expensive.
A damaged tank will not stand and fight against any tank gun. Do not expect it from the US Army. They cannot afford their losses would rather blow themselves up over a lost track than allow one of theirs be captured. Even if your gun wont pierce it has very good chances of destroying a lot on an Abrams.
Russia also has almost no internal debt. It has a economic military potential that is a match to the USA. It cannot mobilize much further than it already is. It doesnt have the capital for it unless its population funds it directly.
