Cities where there aren't a lot of job options generally sell houses for much cheaper since there's less demand. Most people have jobs that are located in cities so they want to buy houses in or near the cities they work in. I doubt a zoomer even with a decent job by Bessemer, MI standards is gonna be able to plunk down a good down payment or have the job security to want to enter into that kind of contract, which is what I assume the zoomers are upset about.

Not saying home arent available cheap even in decent areas. Just that a single picture and good figures on paper dont tell the whole story.
Flood damage. Fire damage. Foundation issues. Issues with zoning laws (you can google search all sorts of horror stories about homes actually built halfway onto another persons property).
Things that are outdated and need replacement but cannot be done within new code requirements (i recall old homes with septic tanks needing to be replaced but not enough yardage to install one unfer new code being an issue in my town growing up).
