Thought the same, C-130's are gunships and can provide cover while the V-22 exctracts the whatever it is. Note the V-22 has also turned off its transponder.

I don't mean to be pedantic but the one's that are in the air (ASSUMING that the transponders aren't spoofed) are strictly transport variants. The gunships are designated as AC-130
it's less obvious on utwente, but if you listen on an SDR closer to Ukraine the jammers are drowning the signal out. they're probably turning the buzzer off but leaving the white noise on hoping they get bored. people are suggesting they're in Russia, but they would already be FSBed if they were. their signal isn't that strong, it would be easy to triangulate. they're in Ukraine
don't know much about it because wasn't pilot, but I think the converted C-130s still keep their original designation in databases Either that or I have no idea what I'm talking about
