Yeah. The avionics of the "newest Russian airliner" works on Windows 7 (perhaps also bootlegged one). Nothing special.

On the Sukhoi Superjet, it was XP.
That's pretty normal though, using stripped down old operating systems as they're the most stable and reliable
So it's OK for you that the systems of the aircraft you're flying on run on fucking Windows, right?
"We run our systems on MS DOS because nobody can hack it anymore due to it's antiquity".
>t. US strategic missile command
Yes. Windows is stable and more so than other os. It's also cheaper and easier to use.
Anti windows kids need to grow up.
Imagine being a literal retard.
what should they use instead and what is your reasoning for it over windows?
can play that pinball game with the joy stick.
you are the only retard in this thread
that's not part of any system, that's just a tablet for charts and what not
He's right though.
My sides
Bro are you retarded, those aren't even the avionics displays. Those are used for electronic checklists.
Also there are at least 2 redundant computers on the avionics both running at the same time and it's a major malfunction if they spit out different data or one stops working.
Not that I know what OS they use on the actual avionics computers. It's irrelevant anyway because the actual software is the important part, not what OS is underlying it.
Yes, it doesn't control critical systems. Those are triple redundant independent circuits with old ass proven hardware.
>fucking Windows
Any user worth his salt should be able to spot a mentally schizophrenic by the way they have to “support” their points with swearing.
They still update 747s with floppy disks.
There isn’t one OS for the entire aircraft. Each system or group of systems is designed for a specific purpose, often by completely different vendors and will use software and hardware that is chosen for the purpose.
A lot of the larger systems in aircraft use a ARINC 653 compliant operating system. 653 is a specification that describes how a low level operating system can achieve strong partitioning between different applications running on the same hardware.
Generally an avionics hardware company will either have their own ARINC653 compliant OS written in house, or they will have ported a commercially available one. VxWorks with the ARINC653 extensions is probably the most common OS used in aviation, including systems on the A380, JSF, P-8 Maritime, and KC-46 refueling aircraft. windriver.com
still better than dos 1.0 on the 737 max
Ignore link. I suck.
If it passed type cert and airworthiness Who cares what OS it is.
Is that Devils Own?
I've seen an ATM that ran Windows XP.
It rebooted mid transaction but luckily I got by card back and no money was removed from my account.
This is true.
> Flighy essential Avionics
> Computer that drives the media center on the plane for passengers
Do you think the Pilot and Co-Pilot seats are "Avionics" too memeflag? It is part of the cockpit aftetall.

Imagine not knowing anything about safety-critical embedded systems and spewing maximal retardation on my internet.
Have some shame and learn to stfu.
