Let's take a break from bait & bullshit threads to discuss how the nationwide redistricting process is going. Check in with what is going on in your state, weigh-in on what is going on in someone else's state, or just drop a shitpost and hang out. No matter what you do, pay attention because this is going to hugely effect elections going forward for the next decade.

I will go ahead and start off with the Florida Update.
>Republicans fully control the process (legislature draws up maps and they are signed into law by the governor)
>still debating proposed maps
>deadline is supposed to be June 13th
>some issue with 5th district (black district along the top of the state, apparently protected district by the Voting Rights Act)
tl;dr probably going to be mild good news for Florida Republicans, but if DeSantis gets his way it will be more than mild.
What's funny, is NY22 was supposedly R+16, but Claudia Tenney only won the district in 2020 because of a recount and picking up ~100 votes over her opponent.
I hate this state.
Come on lads, I promise this is interesting and important stuff. Let's take a closer look at another state, Illinois. Now here's some quite blatant gerrymandering that I think the Democrats won't mind. Just look at this map, it's a work of art.
This new Illinois map is already Approved.
Tenney will now run in NY19 looks like, which is a completely different district and piece of the state, which 538 is calling "Competitive", a D+20 difference. What a joke.
>NY22 was supposedly R+16, but Claudia Tenney only won the district in 2020 because of a recount and picking up ~100 votes over her opponent.
Damn, that's shocking. Any idea of the reason for this? Was there a lot of movement of people over the 2010's, or low turnout or something?
>Change from old map: +3 Dem, -3 Rep, -1 Competitive
Holy shit, you guys got trounced this time around. Even the little article they linked at the bottom is calling out how bullshit your new map is.
>I promise this is interesting and important stuff.
It would be interesting and important, if you could trust the people who count the votes, and if you could trust the system.
None of these people represent us, or white interests. It's just power hungry creeps and jews redrawing maps to cement their power even further.
You're preaching to the choir mate, but for now this is the system we've got. I certainly don't trust national elections, but this will make "cheating" either easier or harder in dozens of closer elections across the country.
New York has been losing people.
>Exodus of poor niggers from The City into the smaller cities upstate.
>Refugees and migrants resettled here and there in towns like Rome and Utica
>White flight out of the state because of nonwhite flood
>Wild liberal policies like banning plastic bags statewide
It's disgusting
Why Tenney had such trouble in 2020? College students can vote in the district they're at in college, and there's a bunch of CUNY schools scattered everywhere. I don't know how many votes that totals, but it's something unusual. I didn't go vote in 2020 because it was clear Trump was not going to make America great.
He did not build the wall or deport them all, and he wasn't going to.
You yankees deserve everything that happens to you
>but this will make "cheating" either easier or harder in dozens of closer elections
If you don't need to provide proof of citizenship or residence to register and get sent an absentee ballot, the system is already fucked.
That appeared to be the case in PA. You could register to vote online, and it looked like you didn't need to provide SSN or any proof of anything really, just a name, some addresses, physical and mailing.
How's your state going?
The Texas map was approved but then they got sued and now it's in litigation.
Based and witty i hope you ram this up the Democrats cheating assholes.
Totally agreed, that shit is insane, but it can't be the case across the whole country.
Well they seem to be winning the redistricting war as of now.
I happen to be in Texas; East Texas in fact. Yeah the litigation will fail. It began in Houston where they made parts of Harris county lose DNC numbers by splitting the western part of the county. Fort Bend county directly to the west of Houston (Sugar Land area) is red...so the democrats in Houston lost a massive advantage in keeping Houston dark blue.
It is very nice btw to see the Valley getting less blue.
>voting regs
>not bait or bullshit
You had one fucking job OP and that was not to be a fucking faggot. You failed. Fuck you.
I think the new maps for Nevada and New Mexico are going to result in a few Republican house gains. All 4 districts in Nevada might go Red and I can easily see 2 in New Mexico going red.
Can someone explain the logic of this redistricting business? As an ausfag i barely understand my own elections.
As areas grow, populations change. It's a way to just be fair (on paper). We have a problem with gerrymandering. Which is: redistricting parts of major cities to keep people in office. For example; in Houston, they have this racist as shit sheboon that is only kept in office because her district only covers the ghetto. So she is constantly reelected by here nigger constituents.
In theory, redistricting is done periodically to make sure that voters are getting their voices heard in electing Congressional (House) representatives. You probably wouldn't want the state maps from decades ago to be the same ones in use today when the populations have shifted all over the place. In a utopian ideal Democratic system, the lines would be re-drawn to enable the fairest possible representation across the country.
The reality however, is that every 10 years both parties try to draw maps to give themselves an advantage as much as they are legally permitted to. Democracy is retarded and this periodic redistricting highlights how retarded it is.
Doesn't need to be for federal elections. Just in the right places.
Districts are how votes are collected. Each district elects Congressional Representatives for The House.
What land or area the district is, is who will vote in it. If your district has a big city of shitlibs, you get a blue total district, because it will have more faggot voters than the rural area. But if you give half of the city to another district, and collect up more rural area, or suburb full of conservatards, you can turn the district Republican like nothing. That's Gerrymandering.
>New Mexico
That's a bit of a hot take, the GOP is suing there apparently. I can see where you're coming from though
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it, and even if the suit succeeds i'm sure they'll be able to pass something favorable to the GOP in the aftermath
Have you voted yet? I am going tomorrow.
