Our memories are not that long. In the last 2000 years we had several big fluctuations in temperature lasting over a century, and a few degrees difference is enough to completely ravage any society. We are likely experiencing such a change now, but it’s not as sudden. Greenhouse gasses do contribute obviously, but a slowing Gulf Stream might do us in or at least make our lives very hard a hell of a lot quicker.
