Democracy is the best form of government but voting rights need to be limited by some strict criteria, at minimum to those that pay more taxes than they take out of the system, and that can pass a basic citizenship test. As it was for most of democratic history.
Universal suffrage is a cancer, allowing the lowest common denominator to vote simply rots the system from within as people begin looting the treasury and voting gibs for themselves. It becomes a free for all and democracy eats itself from the inside out.
Only those that have a stake in the country's success (landowners, net taxpayers) should vote.
