I tried this on an extreme level after forcing myself to do so and it gave me serve mental damage and depression. Not because I agreed with Christianity's cosmology and doctrines but because I grew up and was fond of some of its symbols and cultural motifs, something about it felt wrong. He probably did so because Catholicism asserts confirmation informs an inedible mark on your soul you cannot remove. This has the psychological effect of making one think even if they turn away from Christianity they are still sort of it in a way, that becomes luggage room the person, and so they need some way to break it off, ie with blasphemy.
I wouldn’t recommend it though, best case is probably just forgetting about Christianity, acknowledging it has no power over your life
