Most of these "countries" you depict are non-viable. To be viable, a country needs:
-- Source of water
-- Source of food
-- At least 1 big urban industrial area
-- Ocean access

Pic related. Every single one of these countries fulfills the requirement. The plains states can ship things down the Mississippi, so they sort of have ocean access. Although giving them Washington state might be appropriate.
