We did until one defected to japan. Then we learn it was just a high altitude bomber interseptor. In the 70s the us paniced and develope the f-15 to counter what was thought to be a high proformance high altitude fighter. But we we found out the mig 25 wasnt that, we where left with a kick ass multi role air superiority fighter. The russkies caught back up with the sexi and stunning mig 29 fulcrum ( pic is a polski one ) which in my opiniin is the most bad ass looking gen 4 fighter out there.
