I'm not sure if the bankrun will have any real effect on the canadian dollar. The banks aren't going to run out of money since fiat is infinite. No banks are going to collapse because of it. On the other hand, because fiat isn't real, its value is based entirely on peoples perception of its value. If the bank run becomes widespread enough, people will lose confidence in canada and its currency, which would result in the canadian dollar losing value. Another way would be for canadians to sell their dollars and buy another curency, like the lb or the yen. If enough people are selling dollars it will effect the FOREX order book and drop the value, possibly having a cascading effect on related derivatives and futures.

The emergencies act has already been invoked. It says in the act that it takes effect immediately and must be debated within a week. If the confirmation is voted negative, it no longer has effect.
