it was planned based on research they did after the second world war trying to prevent hitlerian minds from developing. your countryman Lutz Dammbeck made a great documentary about it called Das Netz, highly recommended. if you are astute, it fills in a lot of the missing pieces in how we got from the societies of pre-ww2 through the 1950s to where we are now.

Maybe the script writers wish to push premilenial Christians - almost all current day evangelicals - to take the role as opposition against the vaccine?
It could also be unconscious from the script writers side: Revelation describes a way evil will operate (did operate from our position in time) so it isn't unreasonable to assume that evil operates the same way today. The vaccine could be an echo of the real mark of the beast. It is of course also possible that I'm wrong when I think the time of Revelation being fulfilled was near when it was written and that this is the real mark of the beast.

That a new - from my point of view - beast would appear soon has been prophesied a lot the previous decade - even among preterist cessationists. Those prophecies were highly unexpected. Preterists believe that the beast of Revelation was here and died a long time ago. Cessationists believe that prophecy has ceased or that it today only is about Bible interpretation.
