Stupid fucking americans think there are 'small banks'. Canada has a handful of banks. It isnt like america with a bank of bumfucknowhere and credit unions and other shit all over the place. There's like rbc, td, bmo, scotia and couple others and thats it. they are all branches of the bank of canada (like federal reserve - not canadian owned or controlled) and davos. we have some of highest household debt levels in the world. mortgages, car loans, etc are all through the 2 or 3 major banks. there is no other option for it. you cant just close your mortgage and accounts. they dont have any fucking money. they are all debt slaves. theres no fucking money to take out for virtually anyone. the banks are legally allowed to call your mortgage at any time if they want. if you put a bank run, they put a mortgage run and take everything. its just an illusion of ownership.

Banks don't loan out money others have deposited. I went my whole life thinking that's how it worked. They create money on a computer when they make a loan. They have to have reserve balances against their holdings.
