What am I supposed to think about them? Over the past 5-10 years they have essentially taken over my entire county (Laurel County, KY for those wondering.) But they do make really good stuff, like my uncle bought a cedar chest from them for like $300. For those who don't know, eastern red cedar (as far as carpentry goes) is basically OP in the south because of its +75 to rot resistance is very powerful against Southern dew points. They also have a super good bakery in a nearby county. It's refreshing to go in there and see the women making the bread by hand. And it's a better price than store bread.
I think they are doing fine. Should I adopt their lifestyle?
>Should I adopt their lifestyle? If you're over the age of 20, it'd be very difficult to join them unless you're very adamant about converting. Mennonites and Amish begin learning their trades during childhood and speak Pennsylvania Dutch internally.

>Why did the Amish girl get excommunicated? Two men a night.
Anthony Morales
>Pennsylvania Dutch Yes, I noticed they spoke a very German-y language. Very strange but I guess it's good to "speak your own language". Amish? They are Mennonites, I thought that's different. Or maybe I didn't get the joke?

>too mennonite

PA Dutch was the dominant language in sizable areas of Pennsylvania and Ohio before WW2. Anti-German sentiment led to English becoming much more commonplace. The federal and state government have tried to subvert and breakup the Amish a number of times. They even went as far as to flood all the PA Dutch cities (Lancaster, Reading, Allentown) with section 8 housing and illegals from the shitty parts of NYC/NJ. This backfired since it drove people out of cities and made land values on the outskirts (where they own tons of acreage) skyrocket. Once an area gets too developed, they can buy cheap farmland in the middle of nowhere, develop it, then eventually when its developed and the feds show up to bus illegals in and make cost-of-living skyrocket, they can cash out and do it all over again - doubling in population every 10-20 years all the while. Additionally, the loud prevalence of Spanish in those areas since the 90s regenerated interest in PA Dutch, and it has made a resurgence at an institutional level.

God bless the mennonites.

I once worked with a Mennonite woman in the library field, when I was an IT guy. One year, she asked what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday, and I jokingly said, "Meat cake". Well, this woman brought in a goddamn 10 lb meatloaf frosted with BBQ sauce. Took me ten days to finish.
Those mid-Atlantic Mennonites (and Amish) are maniacs in the kitchen. They invented scrapple and chow-chow, two of the best things in the world.
They're wonderful people if you can get past the cultishness of wearing the same sneakers and clothes.

My Menno Wife just made dinner for myself and the two blonde, blue-eyed human resources she bore me. Highly recommend.
>Pennsylvania dutch It's just German. The "dutch" is just a misunderstanding because they speak deutsche

Lots of Mennonites and Hutterites around here. They're better than regular city trash, but the women aren't particularly hot. I prefer regular country girls overall, better breeding but not total degenerates.
It's the jew free lifestyle. Nothing in excess but love for the community. Durable craftsmanship, honest work, living off the land, things that actually benefit one another so that the community can thrive while also maintaining qualitative living conditions. There's no wonder their numbers are growing. They're not entrapped by the jew controlled rat race where everybody is wasting their lives trying to one-up each other and collectively achieving nothing. These traditional communities who reject modernism didn't get left behind by 'society', they left society behind. They are so much more healthy and happy than anyone could be in a western city or suburb. I envy them.

My grandfathers spoke Pennsylvania Dutch, and my family tree has been in America since the revolution. Unfortunately, we modernized and our community got pozzed AF. Generally a high IQ people, but that leads to the women not understanding why they shouldn’t speak and pathological altruism.

It’s root language is German. It’s technically a sub dialect. It’s drifted away from for so long German that I’ve had a few people I know try and go over to Germany and being unable to communicate with Germans in PA Dutch.
