honestly wouldn't surprise me. that bridge is decrepit as fuck, when you walk underneath you can see patches of concrete and rust everywhere. some sections actually have wooden beams underneath to prevent concrete from falling on the ground. the whole area under the bridge is inches deep in concrete chunks. not joking.
there was extreme weight on the bridge for hours on the day it was blocked. the entire bridge was loaded, bumper to bumper, every single lane, with heavy loaded semi trucks. normally it's only a few trucks at a time, but constant volume throughout the day. the bridge people were worried for sure, they actually sent drivers to the canadian end of the bridge, turned them around, then back across to the other side of the bridge to clear the traffic. they were worried.
would be crazy if the bridge actually had to close due to structural damage.
