Enjoy waiting in line for years while chugging opioids and even then still having to cover half the bill. That's literally the story of my grandmother when she needed a hip-joint replacement.
In my experience all universal healthcare does is help some people that wouldn't be able to afford any healthcare at all. Everybody that isn't deep into the lower class ends up with higher taxes, a worse healthcare system overall and still needing to pay up if they want shit done in a timely manner.
When I got the coof at the start of last year I basically got no medical assistance aside from my doctor giving me regular phone checkups. If I had gotten worse and require more than basic flu mediation I would probably have been fucked. Made me lose all faith in our medical system (not that I had much to begin with).
Oh, and all the doctors are overworked and paid like shit. Because of this many of the actually good specialists just leave the country and go work somewhere they are treated with the respect they deserve.

America would not need universal healthcare if it would not allow (((insurance companies)) to charge a 10000% markup on medication or surgery. I don't understand how you can't charge extortionate prices on lets say water because price gouging in illegal yet you can do the same for medicine that is equally necessary for certain individuals to live.

What's worse is that the cost of hiring somebody is even higher than what you pay in wages / salaries because there are taxes for the employer. It's a clever way of scamming people out of more of their potential income by hiding the tax from the employee (e.g. you pay 20% in tax, but your employer pays another 20% on top of that).
Roughly half of my income goes to the government, not accounting for a 21% VAT, property taxes or taxes and payments for owning vehicle.
