Yes, cocaine was actual medicine and used in early Coca-Cola. Yes, cigarettes were considered healthy and peddled as being safe. My Boomer parents are old enough to remember that whole kike spiel about "9/10 doctors recommend Marlboro", and they remember when cigarettes were allowed in hospitals.
