Let's debate

What are the benefits, and downsides to Non fungible tokens if they were centralized or not?
Yes, I did screenshot this image.
Outside of this new "Image nft" scam craze- would you support say, House tokens?

Depends what the NFT is used for, jpgs that do nothing is like their most basic usecase for them, however there is many more things that can be done with NFTs that go far beyond bored apes.

NFTs are valuable as piecemeal tokens for facilitating smart contracts.

>dole out tokens
>contractors/consultants fulfilling a contract can submit the NFT with their work and it facilitates automatic payment in an ESCROW type system
>no human intervention required

Also probably good for licencing software
>unique keys hashed on the blockchain
>can't be forged

That, and proof of ownership of tangible assets.

All of those could be accomplished with a db for 1/10000 of the price.

It's like it is being solely used as an art mintshit to discredit the technology. It could really solve alot of problems but thats the problem.

You vill own nothing and be happy! Now buy zee ape!

I thought it was good idea myself, Common criticism seems to about the "art" pieces themselves.
How would you combat such a stupid concept, or do you think it may be just a natural side effect of a growing technology?
It seems to be a "grugg think fire bad" kind of situation, though I won't straw man too hard, as I'd love to have my opinion changed.

i think they'll be used in the future in a semi decentralized system (shared between institutions' datacenters) to authenticate important documents (college degrees, etc).

That would be Centralized tho.

Its just the lowest hanging fruit for the NFT technologies.
More advanced usecases will follow soon and already do.

what bird is this?

the downside is that nobody but you will want to buy them.

>decentralised
>non fungible
>very difficult to forge (almost impossible in good time)
>database
you're fucking stupid.

Concert tickets, things like that make sense. I think has failed as a way to monetize digital art outside of being a fad for the Rich to lose their money on a status symbol people will laugh at in 10 years.

Your profitability is solely based on whether or not your reputation has value.

The harpy east, apparently it's the most powerful eagle. Not the largest, that's the giant Philippines eagle, the biggest one obviously being the Ostrich (unless you mean ever which would be either pelagornis Sandersi or the recently extinct Elephant bird).
Anyway, have incite on nfts user?

After the Cyberpandemic and blackouts they will roll out Web 3.0. You will not be able to "screenshot" images anymore and that's where NFTs come in. You will also need to login to post and use the internet in general. This website will cease to exist in it's current format, like so many others. All legacy websites like these will be full of bots, gibberish AI spam and 0 human activity.
Everything will be blockchain based tied to your identity, including payments and services.

> concert tickets
hugely energy-intensive for such use.

nft are more scams to get you to waste money on NOTHING

The internet is not some big truck that you can just dump things on.

IT'S A SERIES OF TUBES!

imagine buying fucking cartoons for thousands of dollars not spending the money on assets or property or ammo, you zoomers are not going to make it.

That's just the beginning of the market though, right? Every new technology starts with an impractical boom to support it. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree the monkey "art" NFTS are a outright waste of money, time, and even the new market itself. But because of the stimulation and attention NFTS are likely getting from such frivolous spending, it'll likely contribute to the technology itself.
What's your opinion on NFTS as a technology?

all the value is in who issues them.
Anybody can mint an nft that points to the exact same url of an image of an ape.
Forget about the fact that it just points to a resource that anybody owning the server behind the url can change at any time

Memeflaggot
>After the Cyberpandemic and blackouts they will roll out Web 3.0.
Yes
>You will not be able to "screenshot" images anymore and that's where NFTs come in.
On their internet yes.
>This website will cease to exist in it's current format, like so many others.
Demoralization, nope.
We shall prevail like Pirates on the high seas.

Got any evidence for such an interesting claim?
(Pic rel- turkey vulture Incase anyone asks)

They are 3rd grade tier art and fucking retarded. The only reason they had value like they did was because of the inflated dollar. Powpow bout to fix all that.
