Think about it. Most of the people born 2000 and after have absolutely no idea how bad things really are. They are too young to have consciously witnessed the rapid devolve we have experienced. This is all they ever knew.
They have AT BEST a vague sense of unease. The brightest among them even, their only conception of how bad things are is what they have read and what others have told them about it. They don't know what it was otherwise like in the very recent past.
