I’m so glad I left shitty Illinois years ago. I lived in McHenry and all of the drunks wore white New Balances and somehow justified the egregious property taxes.
We provide a service for people who are unable or unwilling to save for a major purchase. There is risk involved. The federal government provides huge tax incentives for real estate investors because they know that governments do a poor job of providing housing, and it also takes a major potential expense off the governments books. As a long time landlord I will keep a unit empty before putting those shitty section 8 animals into I unit I own. Section 8 is great for those over 65, for single moms with bastard crotchfruit section 8 is a nightmare. Laws like these make a rental shortage worse.
