French is a parliamentary democracy with a very divided legislature, until the US collapses he can't really usurp them to become the head of NATO, because of limited European military power it's difficult to remain in control even against Russian mercs in Mali, and Germany are at odds with most of his initiatives, especially since it would require a total reworking of the German economy and state. Funny thing is on defense and energy he's right, but Germany is so far gone that without a serious crisis/new political force entering power he's not really in a position to get them onboard.

How so. He's the only Euro leader who actually speaks up and does something when there's a big crisis in Europe. He sent fighter jets to help Greece when they had a conflict with Turkey over gas reserves. He said France is ready to send troops to Romania if Ukraine gets invaded. I just don't see how you got to this idea.
