What are the political implications of Ainu language in Japan?
"Hokkaido Ainu, is a language spoken by a few elderly members of the Ainu people on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. It is a member of the Ainu language family, itself considered a language family isolate with no academic consensus of origin. "
Before the language practically died some 20 years ago, someone had written down a vocabulary.
ciyene = penis (Finnish sienen = mushroom)
esan = to protrude (Finnish esiin = protrude)
hopu(ni) = to rise up (from a bed) (Finnish hoppu = "we are in a hurry")
In the past, the Ainu were persecuted by the Japanese government. That is because they are a little different from our Jomon. The specific difference was that the Ainu people had gray or blue eyes, so they were considered not to be Japanese.
I think there is some connection between the Ainu and the Jomon. I think emishi is Ainu.

Ainu are the indigenous population of Japan. Modern Japanese are about 20% Jomon (Ainu) 30% Yaioi (Yamato) and 50% Chinese
Were Ainu in the past everywhere in the Japan or always only in the northern parts?

Well, that is an interesting etymological detail.

Do you think that they DESERVED to be persecuted? What is Japan's stance on Ainu culture right now? One of the few representations of Ainus in Japanese media I've known are like Nakoruru and that Golden Kamuy
This is quite an enticing rabbit hole you just opened up for me, OP. Thanks.
I did some digging around - man, they really make it so you have to very specific to find the older photos of the Sami instead Finn-Sami hybrids - and found some interesting photos that definitely add some credence to the idea of where you're taking this, and that which I am now a passenger on.

>50% Chinese Would love to hear your reasoning behind this, because the migration routes taken would disagree and any resulting war rape babies of the Chinese forces of any Japanese women would have likely been killed according to the times and mentality back then.
