I guess when we were being taught about the golden age of radio they played War of the Worlds and had us listen to it while playing it straight. It was just like 2 teachers and confined to 1 class, though. Of course if you're trying to fool your students don't do it when you are teaching about classic old broadcasts.

I remember us going into a "space ship" and seeing some propaganda about how these aliens we visited were LE BAD because they were all the same and generic, and how humans were LE GODO because we're all special snowflakes and unique. We had a school shooter drill where they made us flip over tables and hide behind them for something like two hours where we weren't allowed to use phones or talk in anything more than a whisper.

Weirdest thing that happened to me was in Daycare. A room full of infants to 6ish year olds.

The daycare lady had a little boy who had been whining, and she put him in a diaper and made him stand on a table surrounded by 20-30 kids and made him say "I AM A BIG BABY" and he started crying and she said "Laugh at him!" so we all laughed like little kids and I remember pointing at him and calling him a baby.

How fucking fucked up is that kid? Assuming he was cursedly lucid to remember it.

I know my school did it just for innocent fun for the kids but you raise a good question now I know it happened to lots of other schools but the way picrel happened was a lot more sinister and less lighthearted. Teens in the 70s were literally shown actual photos and footage of gruesome vehicle accidents; not just drinking and driving, but not wearing a seat belt, trying to beat a train, and other stupid things. Being "scared straight" has been a tactic to get young adults to behave for a long time, and I wouldn't call those "trauma based mind control" any more than bringing in an amputee to show why being aware of your surroundings is important on a construction job.

They did this too my sophomore year of HS. Then my junior year of high school they did it again with a popular male and female senior that were dating, this was right after homecoming so this time everyone knew it was BS and basically didn’t give a shit. Except that after about a week they didn’t return and their friends were adamant it was real and like half the school was traumatized and crying. They required all the students to see the school counselor at least once to ‘talk’ about it. Being autistic I didn’t have any emotional feeling towards it at all, but I didn’t know it at the time that I was supposed to be ‘sad’. This is basically when I was ‘diagnosed’. Then I had to see the counselor on a regular basis until I graduated.
