Being interested in being a politician should be an automatic disqualification from ever holding office. Public service should be live jury duty, something you really don't want to do but when you're called upon to serve, to do your duty and then go back to your regular life. Lifelong politicians, especially those from political families, will try to make you think they were called to civic duty but they're the ones who called themselves and their interest isn't the public good.
