Worldwide hikikomori cult groups that abandon there bodies and leave them to rot just to live exclusively on facebook brand vr chat.
They eat the bugs and like it.
Freedom of religion means Jews can’t be in your country.
VR's pretty cool but it's such a chore to get into, it's no where near as convenient as a regular computer and desktop where I can do anything because there isn't a giant box strapped to my face
also the FoV on the quest 2 is shit
Interesting idea, love it.
Question: why would these people live in groups, either here or on virtual reality?
One potential future is that generations of semi-autistic hikikomori types will live together making a financial profit from developing virtual worlds or packages etc for people will little technological skill, or that they will be the kind of groups who develop the work-arounds to bypass laws that forbid virtual users to include certain things in their virtual worlds (e.g., developing a means by which government-mandated automated time-outs - which kick players from their virtual experience after a certain period - can be gotten rid of).
way i see these are the next two inevitable markets, space and neurointerface virtual reality
now theyre open for the taking and since its difficult to invest in space i say go all in on metashit
dont be retarded its not about being a thing or not if kikes say so it not only WILL be thing but it will be a money making thing
if it is good or bad i dont know but surf the kali yuga or you will eat the bugs
The clunky hardware is a major issue but it was way worse in the 1980s when VR was first developed. Consider the way people today laugh at the image of a mobile phone in the early 90s, and how quickly that specific technology has developed since then. If enough money invested in VR (which it is) these issues will probably only be short-term. I mean if Musk is right about his neuralink then the concept of boxes strapped to faces will be outdated already.
literaly everyone is going to be hikikomori what do you think the pandemic is about
This. Were already living in the beginning stages of this future, as evident of an entire generation becoming accustomed to living in a digital world via excessive online teaching and lockdowns.
Agreed. One of the major issues with space exploration is that people are already massively bored if not aggressively hostile to IRL activity and experiences on this server. More people than ever have no friends, spend more time than ever indoors, are more obese than ever due to lack of physical activity (and also processed foods, etc), having less sex than ever, getting married less than ever, having fewer children than they have for a century etc.
In the past these societal issues were overcome because people did not have an alternative to living in the real world. Even the hippy revolution in the 60s only offered brief and largely unwieldy psychedelic experiences in alternative virtual worlds. Technology has made it so that people can just not care about base reality in the shared server any more. The idea of moving to Mars and continuing to live in a shared server is just boring to a lot of people, who are tired of mundane reality in the host server.
change our way of life
reformat the society
you will cum in the machine and you will be happy
i bet theyll shoot for goverment controlled reproduction before 2100
Good point. Also interesting to note is that Minecraft (afaik) is the most popular video game for a certain younger generation, and this game essentially involves carving out your own semi-virtual world in a solipsistic manner, albeit the large, pixelated blocks of material (stone, etc) do not make it very realistic.
A crude overview of human history in teleological terms with VR as the logical ending:
>establishing mind-body dualism (first humans)
>clearing forests (distant ancestors)
>establishing agriculture (early societies)
>promoting detachment from the material world (major religions)
>subverting the notion of deistic determinism (atheism)
>expanding the notion of a vast, personal cognitive terrain (psychology and psychonalysis)
>promoting individualism and detachment from one another (modern neoliberal society)
>establishing a level of super-reality beyond the material (internet)
>promoting the development of individual super-real virtual worlds (virtual reality)
>could
fuck i hate journalists
I got to use a "real" VR headset from MIT back in like 95' and it was pretty cool back then but boy that headset was massive compared to now
It is my professional opinion that the man has gone insane
the political implication is that VR is a fucking meme.
The high end of VR in the 1990s is almost exactly the same as it is today, with just a little better graphics. It was also impossibly expensive and that is roughly the same as now also.
The mid-low tiers of VR have become much more reasonably priced, but it's an absolute shit show to even get working from system to different system, let alone working with second party applications for different end goals. The graphics are okay or just flat out not worth even getting into because it's animal crossing tier.
Expecting any portion of the global population to get into this costly and timely hobby during a world wide economic recession is fucking retarded.
Lastly moderation, metaverse will be absurdly moderately. Meanwhile the alternative is virtual chats filled with un-ironic trannies trying to sex role play with my kid. It leaves no room for reasonable growth without going full off the deep end.
Meanwhile my internet experience as a child was like the wild west in the late 90s. One room would be memes and the next full on guro-catgirl RP.
Not healthy for a developing mind.
That's really cool, how come you got to use it?
It's strange that back then VR wasn't really considered a plausible industry which could generate huge profits etc, it was more of a niche hobby. There were things like the movie The Lawnmower Man which brought it to wider attention, but it didn't seem like a realistic prospect back then to many.
Hmm, now where have I seen a silhouette like this before... what does this shape make me think
haha, brock pierce inventor of tetherUSD presenting VR to the world in a disney movie. I believe it was the only movie filmed in the whitehouse and it was the clinton administration. He also had a WoW gold exchange funded by steve bannon before making a crypto exchange and becoming a billionaire. That was after the accusations of hosting child sex parties for the dot com bubble company hosting gay internet content for the underage(they use the term teen).
Delay will nauseate most people.
So nothing for the coming few decades.
Had a friend at MIT who was working with VR in the early 90's and he let me try it out when I visited once, "Lawnmower man-esque" would be a great way to describe it visually, it was neat, not at all practical though for anything, especially not when PC's exist and you have way more freedom
