Usury destroys the environment. That is why is medieval Europe outlawed its use.
If I had one fishing boat, i could catch X amount of fish daily, after running costs this would have been subsistence living.
Introduce usury and you buy a bigger boat, or improve your netting. Now you have to catch a larger amount of fish to pay for the interest.
Now you are able to feed more people, this may sound good initially but add X amount of time and your family now have more competition. More taxes paid. Unbridled and you end up like India or China, consuming everything.
