It's called mutual combat. It's s perfectly legal and needs no paperwork.
Someone attacks you, and you fight back. It's mutual combat. Loser gets nothing and can't cry assault. I do believe this only applies to fisticuffs however.
Legally speaking both parties must be aware there is about to be a fight. You can't just jump someone. And it helps if it you declare it as mutual combat. And of course sanctioned matches are also examples. You can sanction any match where death is not guaranteed. Again...no swords or guns. Otherwise any stipulation can be written in. Blunt weapons of light weight. Feet only. Fists only. One party literally has a hand tied behind their back.
Fun fact, in ole medievally times people could fight each other in such a way or even dogs. Men vs women too. For those they would dig a hole to the man's chest. He had to get in the hole and then then man and woman could fight. Idk if concessions were made. Where the guy is like 120 5'5' and she is like 200 5'10' or something.
