my dad is based too, he even used to be more trad when younger than now but I know a Boomer who actually went from long hair hippy/ 68er to careerist in his 30s and 40s to N word saying populist hardliner. Both parties are corporate parties. The Democrats are by definition more corrupt, because the Democrats pretend not to be, while the Republicans are open about it, and they say it's good to be corporate.
Middle class corporate Dems are part of the system, and they often get involved in party politics themselves, being cynical enough to buy into the corruption without pause. In contrast, Trumpists are NOT part of the GOP machine, they're looked down upon. They're just the tools.
